Quick Fix for Smile Imperfections

Do you think your cosmetic issues are so bad that you’ll need extensive treatments to give you the dazzling smile you want? The truth is, many tooth imperfections, including slightly crowded or crooked teeth, can often be corrected in just one or two office visits with porcelain veneers. These thin ceramic shells are placed over the front of your teeth to change their size, shape, or color. Also, in a procedure known as “instant orthodontics,” Dr. Calcagno, Dr. Voltidi, and Dr. Brodersen can change the look of your crowded or widely-spaced teeth instantly, a feat that normally takes a year or more with conventional orthodontics.

Lumineers and Durathin Veneers

Dr. Calcagno, Dr. Voltidi, and Dr. Brodersen use several types of veneers, including ultra-thin Lumineers and Durathins. Trained by Dr. Robert Isben, the creator of Lumineers, and Dr. Dennis Wells, the creator of Durathins, they have obtained expert knowledge for optimal placement of these restorations. Requiring little to no tooth reduction, Lumineers and Durathins are the restoration of choice for those who want to retain as much healthy tooth structure as possible while simultaneously achieving an attractive smile.

Porcelain Veneer Placement in Rochester

The first step in porcelain veneer placement is preparing your teeth for your restorations. Dr. Calcagno, Dr. Voltidi, or Dr. Brodersen will buff away a very thin layer of your tooth enamel to ensure that the veneers do not add thickness to the teeth. If you are receiving Lumineers or Durathins, they may not need to remove any tooth enamel at all. Once the space has been prepared, your Rochester cosmetic dentist will fashion your veneers in one of two ways. If your veneers are being made by a dental lab, Dr. Calcagno, Dr. Voltidi, or Dr. Brodersen will take an impression of your teeth, send it to the ceramist for fabrication, and have you return for a second office visit to place the restorations. Your cosmetic dentist will bond them to your teeth and make needed adjustments to achieve ideal esthetics.
