You’ve probably heard of the Invisalign system, which provides a barely noticeable alternative to traditional braces. Many dental practices in the area offer clear aligners. However, few are officially recognized as Invisalign Premier Preferred Providers. Dr. Calcagno is one of the few dentists in the area who has earned this distinction.
What is an Invisalign Premier Preferred Provider?
Dr. Calcagno’s experience in treating many patients using the clear aligners has earned her the honor of being an Invisalign Premier Preferred Provider. She works with her team to ensure patients receive an enjoyable orthodontic experience and comfortable treatment. In addition to the tools and technologies to provide quality treatment, Dr. Calcagno also offers a free initial cosmetic consultation for new patients interested in improving the beauty of their smiles. She will examine your smile, discuss your goals, and decide if this is the best option for you.
How Do Clear Aligners Differ from Braces?
Braces use metal brackets attached to the teeth and connected with an arch wire. The doctor then adjusts tension to reposition the teeth over a period of 18 months to 2 years on average. However, the system instead uses a series of clear plastic aligners, not brackets and wires. Patients wear the aligners every day, usually for around 20 to 23 hours. Every two weeks the patient upgrades to a new set as their smile is improved.
During treatment, patients can remove the aligners before meals, which means they don’t need to avoid certain foods. In addition, brushing and flossing teeth is much easier, allowing patients to enjoy better oral hygiene.
Who Makes a Good Candidate?
We typically recommend clear aligners for patients 16 and older that have minor alignment issues. We will examine your smile and assess the severity of your misalignment before deciding if Invisalign or braces are the best choice for you.
