Are Whitening Strips Worth It?

There are seemingly innumerable options for brightening your teeth. At your local store you’re likely to find everything from toothpastes to rinses to brighten your teeth. One of the more popular products are teeth whitening strips. Are these products worth it? Can they really help you achieve a more attractive smile by erasing discoloration?

How Do They Work?

The strips contain a peroxide agent. When the strips adhere to the contours of the teeth, the agent erases discoloration. The strips may be used to remove minor teeth stains. However, if they aren’t used properly patients may develop tooth sensitivity or gum irritation. While this can be considered a cost-effective option for correcting discoloration, you may require a professional option for more serious forms of discoloration.

What Does Professional Teeth Whitening Involve?

As a professional option, we provide KoR Whitening. The procedure combines at-home and in-office techniques to remove discoloration from the surface of the teeth and minor stains that form below the enamel, known as intrinsic stains. First, an initial office treatment is performed. Then the patient returns home with a set of whitening trays and a bleaching gel. The patient wears the trays, gilled with the gel, for a week to ten days. After a final office visit, the teeth may be brightened by multiple shades.

How Do I Keep My Smile Bright?

After your brighten your teeth, with either a professional option or a store bought system, what can you do to keep your smile beautiful?
