What is National Smile Month?

Started in the UK, National Smile Month is a campaign to raise awareness about the importance of good oral health. From recognizing common problems, such as tooth decay or gum disease, to offering preventive solutions, we want to help out patients achieve a healthier smile. Find out what steps you can take to boost the beauty and overall health of your teeth and gums.

How Do I Protect My Smile?

With a few simple steps you can strengthen your smile from home. Daily maintenance can protect your teeth from the onset of cavities or possibly even periodontal disease. Each morning, you should thoroughly brush your teeth with a soft-bristled brush. In the evening, you will brush again and floss your teeth as well. Doing so removes food particles that are stuck on or between the teeth. Bacteria can no longer break down the particles, a process which would cause plaque buildup and increased oral acidity.

What is Preventive Dentistry?

Preventive dentistry, also often referred to as general dentistry, is treatment that helps prevent the onset of oral health problems. We can perform a routine checkup and cleaning to remove plaque buildup completely and watch for the warning signs of tooth decay or gum issues. We can use DIAGNOdentt dental lasers to identify cavities in the earliest stages, sometimes before they form. We can also use digital x-rays, which use less radiation and provide instant, detailed images, to diagnose oral health problems and recommend immediate treatment.

How Do I Get Started?

First, you need to schedule a consultation. By doing so, you allow our team to examine your teeth and gums. We can discuss your smile goals and recommend a variety of general, cosmetic, or restorative treatments to improve the appearance, health, and function of your smile.
