How Does Invisalign Correct Smiles?

Invisalign is a practically invisible orthodontic treatment. How does Invisalign correct smiles? A unique and innovative treatment, we can use clear braces to improve alignment and help patients develop a more attractive and overall healthier smile. At Calcagno Cosmetic and Family Dentistry, Dr. Calcagno is also recognized as an Invisalign preferred provider.

What is Invisalign?

Instead of using metal braces attached to the front of the teeth the patient wears a plastic aligner. Custom-made based on detailed impressions of your teeth; the aligners are worn for between 20 and 23 hours daily. About every two weeks you will upgrade to a new set. The teeth are gently repositioned over the period of about a year.

Do I Need Clear Braces?

We recommend clear braces for patients over the age of 16 who have minor alignment issues. We will carefully examine your teeth and bite to decide if this is the best option for correcting alignment. The examine will be part of your free initial cosmetic consultation. We also offer Six Month Smiles, which uses clear brackets and tooth-colored wires for a less visible form of smile improvement.

Invisalign vs. Braces

Invisalign offers a number of advantages to braces. First, many people find the clear braces to be more comfortable, reducing the gum and cheek irritation often encountered with braces. In addition, you won’t need to change your diet. With traditional orthodontics patients must avoid hard or sticky foods, which can become stuck in braces. Since the aligners can be removed before meals there are such worries. In addition, you can maintain a healthier smile since brushing and flossing will be easier with clear braces.
