FAQs: Who Qualifies for Clear Braces?

Interested in achieving a stunning, even smile? If misalignment stands between you and the smile of your dreams, why not seek an orthodontic solution? At Calcagno Cosmetic and Family Dentistry, we offer the unique and barely noticeable Invisalign clear orthodontic system. Who qualifies for clear braces?

Frequently Asked Questions About Clear Braces

Question: What are clear braces?

Answer: Traditional braces rely on tension to reposition the teeth, accomplished via bracelets on the teeth connected with arch wires. Many people are hesitant to embrace this option because they don’t want to wear metal braces for as long as two years. Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners, worn daily, to move teeth to an optimal placement.

Question: Can teens wear Invisalign aligners?

Answer: Yes. Teens over the age of 15 often qualify for this option. For our younger patients, the aligners will have small blue dots on the ends. If the aligners are worn as recommended, the blue dots will wear away. Parents and the dentist can then monitor and ensure the aligners are worn properly. For teens, treatment may take as long as 18 months.

Question: Do adults benefit from this treatment option?

Answer: Yes. Adults can wear clear braces. The entire treatment period for adults takes about a year. You can remove the orthodontics before meals and in order to brush and floss your teeth easily, improving oral hygiene and offering convenience not available with traditional orthodontics.

Question: Does Invisalign address all types of misalignment?

Answer: We typically recommend this treatment option for adults and teens that have minor misalignment. We will exam your teeth to see if you qualify. Otherwise, you may benefit from other orthodontic options. If you have any questions, please give our office a call today.
