FAQs About One-Visit Restorations

When you have a tooth that requires repair, whether as a result of tooth decay or an accident, do you dread the thought of multiple visits and procedures? We understand that our patients already have plenty on their plate. With advanced dental technology, we can now provide one-visit restorations using the innovative CEREC system.

Frequently Asked Questions About CEREC in Rochester MN

Question: How does CEREC work?

Answer: With this unique restoration system, we prepare the tooth by removing a small amount of structure. We then gather images of the tooth with an intraoral camera. Using these images, a detailed 3D model of the tooth is created. Uploaded into the CEREC machine, the computer uses this model to craft the crown from a solid block of ceramic. We will then check the fit and affix the crown with a secure bonding agent. No need for temporary crowns or long waits for a completed restoration.

Question: Will the restorations look natural?

Answer: Yes. Ceramic offers the same translucent capabilities as natural tooth enamel. In addition, this material is strong and stain-resistant. Patients can enjoy a completely lifelike restoration that can last for decades.

Question: Why do we need dental crowns?

Answer: We may recommend a crown if a tooth has become broken, cracked, or suffers from advanced cavities that leave the structure compromised. In addition, we can use these restorations to complete a tooth following a root canal treatment or to replace a tooth in a dental bridge or dental crown procedure.

Question: Do you offer complimentary consultations?

Answer: For patients interested in improving the beauty of their smiles, we do offer a free cosmetic consultation. We will exam your teeth and gums to assess the cause and extent of your oral imperfections. We can then recommend the best cosmetic treatment for your smile.
